ABSTRACT:
Hitachi storage technology brings together the data from diverse systems into a centralized pool that can be managed from a single common management console. This single-pane-of-glass view gives greater control over entire storage environment. Rather than struggling with a complex mix of internal or direct-attached storage silos, all data can be housed in one place.
The centralization of data in an external storage system allows to deploy common storage services--such as replication, search, migration, and archiving--that leverage the same pool of data. Backup and restore processes are faster and more efficient. One backup job can be used for all the data, rather than one backup job for each server. And other important data protection tasks with built-in capabilities can be accomplished.
Along with enhanced data protection, better performance for business applications is expected. These gains stem from more efficient use of storage and from enterprise-class technical features that optimize data retrieval, reduce data fragmentation, and deliver information in less time.
